Full day tour Cape Sounio

Take a break from the city heat and noises and enjoy a 60 minutes ride through the beautiful
Athens Riviera in order to visit one of Greece’ s most important historical monuments,
TEMPLE OF POSEIDON at Cape Sounion. A sacred place where the Athenians worship
Poseidon, the God of the sea.

The unique Temple of Poseidon is an important monument of the GOLDEN AGE of Athens
and holds significant historical and mythological value for the Athenians. The temple was
constructed in 444 -440 BC from the Athenian statesman Pericles.

Our tour will begin from your hotel or any other preferred pick up point and our destination
is 70 km south-west of Athens. During our coastal trip we will pass some of the most famous
and wealthy south suburbs of Attika, like Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza, Lagonisi, Palaia
Fokaia and picturesque coastal towns where the green of the land and the deep blue of the
sea are creating one magnificent landscape. On our way we will stop at Vouliagmeni Lake to
enjoy the magestic geological phenomenon and take some pictures. On our trip to Cape

where you can take a moment to relax. A few minutes later we will arrive to our destination.
The temple of Poseidon. The temple is perched above the sea, on a breathtaking panoramic
view hill, at height of almost 60 meters and it’s hard to imagine a more perfect setting for an
ancient temple, in particular one dedicated to the “God of the Sea”.

There you will have time to walk around and explore the temple, to have a coffee or lunch,
to go for swimming at the nearby sandy beaches. You can also have the opportunity to
witness the magical sunset over the Aegean sea.
